Shelby Luzzi is the Senior Sustainability Manager at Destination DC (DDC), a role that is the first of its kind among urban US destination marketing organizations. In this position, she serves as Washington, DC’s advocate for responsible travel, environmental stewardship, and community engagement, both locally and internationally. Her efforts at DDC focus on strategy development and implementation, stakeholder motivation and education, and global benchmarking efforts.
Globally, Shelby represents Washington, DC in the BestCities Global Alliance’s Impact Group and the Global Destination Sustainability-Index’s Technical Advisory Committee. Previously, she served on sustainability task forces for Destination International and U.S. Travel Association, and was the elected the North American representative for the International Congress and Convention Association’s Future Leaders Council from 2023-2025.
