A new itinerary in Milan’s historic garden showcases the trees’ contribution to cutting CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

Eni has set up an innovative installation at the Brera Botanical Garden, in Milan, that effectively guides visitors through a brand-new itinerary of the historic garden. The itinerary shows how the trees there help cut CO2 emissions released into the atmosphere. 37 see-through spheres, each representing a different plant species, show a positive message: the amount of CO2 stored by each plant. The larger the sphere, the higher the monthly CO2 storage of the plant. The 38th sphere in the garden is black and has a 5-metre diameter: it represents the amount of CO2 a single person produces with their body alone. The great size difference immediately shows the spectator the contrast between the two amounts and the great emergency our planet is going through. This is further proven by the fact that the single black bubble does not include everything a single person produces apart from their metabolic CO2, namely pollution in all its forms.
