At a glance
For the 2026 index, 68 countries earned points across the three-edition window. Ties push the published table to 51 rows across 47 places.
This year's story: Beyond the usual powerhouses
The Gulf rivals the giants.
The United Arab Emirates ranks second, behind only the United States, and Saudi Arabia and Qatar both make the top seven.
Central and Eastern Europe steps up.
Poland ranks third, ahead of Spain and the United Kingdom, and Hungary and Latvia both place above France.
The UK’s venues lead the world.
No country has won more awards in the venue categories than the United Kingdom, and its venues carry much of its place in the top five.
How the ranking works
Events
Every award-winning event counts once per edition with its highest award for the host country. Cross-border events count for each host country.
Venues
A win in a venue category counts double.
Destinations
A destination award counts triple when it goes to a city, venue, area, or event in the country, and five times when the country wins it.
In the case of ties, countries with equal points share the same place, with the next placement moving up accordingly. All entries tied for placement are included in the index.

Latest update:
Why a listing matters
A place on the Top 50 Countries pays off well beyond the ranking page.
A credential for national bid strategy.
When tourism boards or convention bureaus pitch a country for a major international event, an independent, three-edition record of award-winning work strengthens the case alongside infrastructure and connectivity claims.
A data point beyond tourism.
Recognition in a global events index adds evidence to broader “why do business here” narratives, useful for trade and investment conversations, not just travel ones.
Recognition beyond any single city or venue.
A country’s record isn’t just its capital or flagship venue — it’s the sum of every award-winning event, venue win, and destination win nationwide.
This is also backed by visibility Eventex puts behind the index directly — coverage across our channels, inclusion in our press outreach, and a lasting, linkable record of the achievement.
FAQ
How does a country earn points?
Three ways, added together: the award-winning events held there, any venue-category award won within the country, and any destination award — whether won by a city, venue, or area within the country, or by the country itself. A country doesn’t need all three; any one of them can contribute to its total.
What happens with events held across more than one country?
A cross-border event credits every host country once, rather than splitting the award between them.
Why do destination wins carry different weights depending on who wins them?
A destination award won by a specific place within the country is a narrower win than one claimed by the country as a whole, so the two are weighted differently — a country-level win counts for more.
What’s the difference between this index and the Eventex Top 50 Cities?
The Cities index ranks individual cities on their own record. This index adds up everything happening across an entire country — every city, venue, and destination win combined — so a country can rank well even if no single city within it tops the Cities list.
Why are there ties in the table this year?
Points are awarded in fixed amounts, so it’s common for multiple countries to land on exactly the same total. When that happens, they share a place, and the index lists every country tied for that spot rather than arbitrarily breaking the tie.
Is this the same as winning an Eventex award?
No. Eventex Awards judge individual entries within a single edition. This index is calculated afterward, converting three editions’ worth of results into a single ranking of sustained performance.
