Szabolcs Botond is a visionary leader in event technology and audiovisual innovation. As the CEO of Visual Europe Group, he has shaped the company into one of Europe's leading event production and audiovisual service providers. Under his leadership, the company has grown across multiple countries, bringing unforgettable experiences to audiences and businesses alike.
One of his flagship initiatives is United Illusions, an ARRI-accredited virtual production studio on the outskirts of Budapest. The main LED stage anchors the facility with a 28×6-meter curved wall, an adjustable ceiling, and mobile side walls, while the complex also offers two additional production stages and full support amenities. With camera, color, and lighting pipelines integrated end to end, complex environments can be captured in camera, enabling faster, more controlled shoots. By consolidating locations within a single calibrated stage, productions reduce travel and set builds, cut costs and time, and shrink their carbon footprint.
Beyond his work at Visual Europe, Botond is an active investor and mentor in the startup world. He plays a key role in OXO Technologies Holding supporting companies that push the boundaries of virtual reality, AI, and immersive digital experiences. His portfolio includes a variety of tech-driven startups, from VR-AR Education Inc. to KitchenBox.
Botond has also pioneered the use of drone shows as a dynamic storytelling tool, integrating synchronized aerial displays into major festivals, corporate events, and national celebrations. These large-scale performances combine technology and artistry, offering a sustainable and visually striking addition to traditional fireworks while delivering breathtaking moments for live and televised audiences alike.
Szabolcs Botond is committed to supporting young talents, including students from MOME (Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest). By fostering innovation and providing emerging creatives with opportunities, he contributes to the growth of future industry leaders. Through mentorship programs, collaborations, and technology-driven projects, he helps bridge the gap between education and real-world applications, ensuring that young professionals can thrive in the audiovisual and event technology industry.
In 2026, Szabolcs Botond will join as a jury member for the Eventex Awards, bringing his expertise in event technology, immersive storytelling, and large-scale productions to the evaluation of the industry’s most innovative projects. His vision extends beyond providing technical solutions — he believes technology should amplify human experiences, making events more engaging, interactive, and unforgettable.
